All praise is due to Allah, the Cherisher, Sustainer, Nourisher and Provider of the entire creation. May peace, blessings and salutations be upon our Beloved Prophet Muhammed ﷺ.
Once upon a time, Muslims were in the forefront of every new scientific and technological breakthrough. As time passed, we as Muslims became lazy and complacent. We sat back and let the western world take control and just went with the flow.
We find ourselves living in a time where Muslims are made to be the enemies of the world and Islam is made to be a religion of violence. Muslims are generally made out to be oppressors when in reality many of our Muslim brothers and sisters are being oppressed. We all very well know that Islam is a religion of peace, love, kindness and generosity, not only to Muslims but to humanity at large.
We may wonder, how does Israel and the rest of the enemies of Islam manage to deceive the world and portray Muslims as the enemy? The answer to that is simple. They have realized that they were small in number, and if they wanted to be “The Top Dog”, if they wanted to take over Palestine and if they wanted to control the world they would need to would equip themselves with knowledge. They went out and become the best in every field. At the same time they distracted us by creating tv shows and platforms such as tiktok which keep us distracted for hours and hours. While we are distracted they are excelling in every field of study. As a result, they control the media and control the narrative.
We often speak about making a difference and standing up for the Ummah. The question is how can we do this ? We need to come to the realization that if we really want to make a difference, we need to establish ourselves in the forefront of every field, whether it is the medical field, the technology field, the scientific field or even the education field. We need to be in the forefront of every breakthrough.
We’ve become complacent and need to step up our game.
Allah says in the Quran in surah 39 verse 9 :
قُلۡ هَلۡ يَسۡتَوِى ٱلَّذِينَ يَعۡلَمُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَۗ
Say, “Are those who know equal to those who do not know?”
Nabi ﷺ mentions in a Hadith :
طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ
Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim. (Ibn Majah 224)
We have a responsibility to seek the knowledge of Deen however it is also incumbent on us to seek knowledge of the Dunya, as it can be a means of us doing good and making a difference, however we should not let it take complete control our lives.
No matter what we do in our lives, we should always begin with the name of Allah, perform our Salah on time and begin our day with some recitation of the Quran. If we keep these three things in mind, we will achieve success in this world and in the Aakhirah.
May Allah accept our efforts from us and grant us understanding In Sha Allah!
